Alan
Naylor
Alan Naylor is a Helen Hayes Award winning actor, singer, and pianist with a talent for the poignant delivery of song. Whether singing Rodgers & Hammerstein, Puccini, Billy Joel, or his most beloved Muppets his performances are sure to bring laughter, tears, and a sense of hearing things as if for the first time.
He has acted throughout the United States in award winning theaters such as the The Kennedy Center, St. Louis MUNY, Signature Theatre, Washington National Opera, and Olney Theater amongst many others. In addition he has performed with such venerable groups as The Minnesota Orchestra, National Philharmonic, American Boys Choir, St. Olaf Choir, and was a founding member of the American Broadway Chorus.
While collaboration is one of his greatest joys Alan also performs regularly as a solo singer/pianist in recital, concert, and cabaret. A resident of Washington DC, his local concerts are widely followed and sought after by lovers of everything from art song to Queen and Freddie Mercury. During the pandemic he cofounded a livestream concert series from his home known as “Night and Newcastle” and you should click one of the links below to see some of DC’s greatest theatre artists!

“Alan Naylor’s Cosme McMoon is one for the books.
Superbly animated, particularly when it comes to his active facial expressions, Naylor delivers a chaotic scramble of emotions all throughout the performance without ever treading into the dangerous territory of becoming an unreliable narrator — tempering the heightened theatricality that must accompany Cosme McMoon with a bold streak of sincerity, Naylor delivers a stunning performance in the role — Both Naylor’s physical and facial animations drive forth the humor in this production, allowing levity to land honestly without the sense of being manufactured. The magnificently crafted moment of rapturous tragic bliss that Naylor delivers at the conclusion of the performance neatly concludes the evocative light-hearted drama in a way that words fail accurately to describe.”
